Dodge Ram takes top pickup award in Canada

We're still trying to figure out which new-for-'09 truck took the top honors in the State of Texas, but it's clear that the Dodge Ram was chosen as "Best New Pickup in Canada." In the process of taking the award, the new Ram beat out its rival from Ford, which is also brand new for the 2009 model year. Highlights of the new Ram's design include its always-macho styling, RamBox cargo management system and its coil-spring rear suspension.

While the Dodge Boys are sure to accept any trophy for its new truck, we're sure that the sales of full-sized pickups in Canada pale in comparison to those of the United States, and Texas is the undisputed U.S. heavyweight champion when it comes to truck-lovin'. The real battle is about to begin as both Ford and Dodge go up against tough competition from Chevrolet, GMC and Toyota for the pick'em-up-truck sales crown.

DaimlerChrysler to pump $640 million into Canada

DaimlerChrysler logo

After recovering from the shock of GM announcing multiple plant closings in Canada, the autoworkers up there (at least the ones employed by DCX) must be absolutely ecstatic about DaimlerChrysler's announcement that it will invest $640 million ($728 million in CDN) in its Canadian operations. The money will go into improving current facilities, developing flexible manufacturing lines and R&D. The Ontario and Federal Governments were instrumental in the securing the investment from Chrysler, though the company credits both governments, its recently ratified collective agreement with the CAW and the general popularity right now of DaimlerChrysler vehicles being produced in Canada. The bulk of the investment will go to the Windsor Assembly Plant, which will be retooled for future products and get an all paint-facility in 2007. The DCX Automotive Research and Development Center and Brampton Assembly Plant will also see some green.

Spy Shots: 2012 Chrysler 300C caught completely undisguised

Our intrepid spy photographers have just caught the 2012 Chrysler 300C running around completely undisguised during a promotional video shoot (hence the full tint job). Now that all of the camouflage has been removed, we can clearly see the 300's reworked front and rear fascias. Up front, Chrysler's new corporate grille is flanked by stylish headlamps that use LED daytime running lamps. Out back, the taillamps are spruced up with chrome accents and a large chrome strip that runs the length of the rear bumper. It sounds like a lot of chrome, but it's quite tasteful, and looks downright sharp on a black car like this prototype.

Much like its sister car, the Dodge Charger, expect the updated 300 to be powered by both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8, with all-wheel drive available on certain models. Since Chrysler's flagship sedan is nearing the tail end of its development phase, a Los Angeles or Detroit show debut is a safe bet. See the sleek new 300 in our gallery of spy shots, below.

Fans of the Call of Duty video game franchise know that the latest edition, Call of Duty: Black Ops, will be released on November 9th. What you might not know, however, is that Activision Publishing, Inc. - the folks responsible for distributing Call of Duty - have partnered with Jeep, not only to have the Wrangler featured in the latest addition of the CoD series, but to create a special Call of Duty edition of Jeep's most popular vehicle.

The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition hits dealerships next month, priced from $30,625 for the two-door model and $33,500 for the four-door Unlimited (a base two-door Rubican normally starts at $28,775). Based on the Wrangler's Rubicon trim, the Black Ops Edition features mineral gray alloy wheels wrapped in 32-inch off-road tires, Mopar taillamp guards, a Mopar fuel door, Call of Duty: Black Ops logos, an entirely blacked-out exterior and... that's it. Unless, of course, you count all of the Wrangler's upgrades for 2011, not the least of which is a redesigned interior. Read the full details for yourself in Jeep's press release, after the jump.

Jeep Patriot rocks up with modest facelift for 2011

Chrysler has just revealed the first images and details of its 2011 Jeep Patriot,  and the compact softroader has received very subtle nip/tuck for the new model year that touch nearly every aspect of the vehicle.

The alterations include a new front fascia with fog lamps integrated with the headlamps, color-keyed grille, a new front fascia that's lower than before, new 17-inch alloys and a brace of new colors, among other differences.

Under the skin, the baby Jeep receives reworked steering and suspension tunings (though the company declines specifics) and 4x4 models benefit from additional inch of ride height to augment its off-road capabilities.

Like other recent Chrysler models, the Patriot's interior has been a sticking point since the model was introduced for the 2007 model year, and the Auburn Hills automaker has devoted quite a bit of attention to upgrading the cabin in this revised model. Changes include new soft-touch door panels with backlighting for the door and window switches, a new armrest, a new wheel with redundant audio controls (along with Bluetooth and cruise), higher-quality cloth on the seats, and so on.

Analyze the changes for yourself by checking out our high-res gallery below and the official press release after the jump.
